Electrician in Weybridge
An electrician installs and tests the wiring, sockets, lights and consumer unit in a home. Safe electrics matter, so this is one trade where the paperwork is as important as the work.

What an electrician does
An electrician plans the circuit, runs the cable, fits the accessories and then tests everything before it is switched on. They should be able to explain what they tested.
Jobs people often ask electricians to do:
- Adding sockets and light fittings
- Rewiring a house or part of one
- Installing outdoor lighting
- Fitting smoke and heat alarms
- Carrying out an electrical safety inspection
Before you book an electrician
- After new circuits or a new consumer unit you should get an electrical certificate. Ask for it and keep it with your house papers.
- Landlords in England must have the electrics in rented homes checked at least every five years. Ask for the inspection report (EICR) after the visit.
- Tell the electrician about anything you plan to add later, like a charger or a hot tub, so the new fuse board has room for it.
- For a rewire, ask how long the house will be without power and whether you will need to move out of any rooms.
